TYR Half-year Review

I promised to live up with my blog's name and count D and myself's adventures together as married couple. I planned to do it on a yearly basis, thus my FB album title TYR Tours 2013. But for some reasons (I will not even try to explain), I sometimes forget to blog about it. And then I woke up and half year has past already. Aww. So I'm putting up this post to summarize where we've been for the past 6 months.

1. Coron, Palawan
This was the first trip we made this year. It was actually our honeymoon trip back in January.

2. CaliRana Laguna
We passed through this man-made lake on our way to Majayjay Falls last February. We just couldn't resist to goof around.

3. Majayjay Falls Laguna
We joined Club CB110's February Ride to one of the coolest falls I've been to. Read full blog post HERE.

How do we ride if it's raining?

"If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride at all"

That's what they say. I will usually agree if we're on an actual ride but if it's Metro riding and I'm going to the office. Hell NO! Actually, D has a car but ever since the aircon broke down, we seldom use it. It's extra hard to use it when it's raining because we cannot roll the window down. We can open it a little but then there's traffic jam that, for some reason, gets worse when it's raining. So our best bet is still riding Choco Banana.

So how do we ride if it's raining? Just the usual but with rain gears on. Here's my usual OOTD during rainy days:

My raincoat is a typical policeman-type raincoat. It was given to D by his friend Zer. It has good coverage from head to knees but prepare to get wet from there downwards. I'm wearing the Diesel helmet Kuya Winston sent D from London. I will not advise half-face helmet if its raining because the water will get in your mouth and it's yuck. Actually, I really do not advise wearing half-face helmet at all. It makes me feel vulnerable. I'm seeing images of my broken jaws after an accident. Not good! But I must admit it pretty much agrees with our Philippine hot weather.

D, by the way, wears a Givi full-suit rain gear. It's a two-pc suit - one like a pants and the other like a jacket. He said it's effective in keeping him dry. He also uses rain boots for the ocassion. Oh I remembered bugging him to buy me a pair of Pluey's rain boots which were insanely expensive. But they're too cute! I have to remind him again. hehe

And what's best to serve on a cold rainy night? Hot soup! So far, we've tried Champorado, Sopas and Lugaw. Yum!

Surprisingly loving the rain,
Yosh

Another 20ish Chelai

June for me is so full of not weddings, but birthdays! I have several friends and relatives celebrating their day on the 'wedding month'. One of them is my good friend Chelai. Of course, we have to celebrate her 25th (mental note: ask Chelai if my math is right). We're usually 3 during meet-ups but Lara's onshore so it was only me and Chelai this year. Her birthday is actually today, June 25, but since she has other plans with other people also, we celebrated it last Saturday. It was better because we have more time to bond.

We started the celebration with a very big lunch. When I say big, I mean like food good for 4, for only the 2 of us. Haha! Sorry! We got so excited with the Dampa idea. It was the one in Libis where you will buy seafood from the wet market then have it cooked the way you want it. We bought 2 large crabs which we have as Garlic Buttered Crabs. Then 1/4 kilos large shrimps cooked as Sinigang. Then we ordered a very big serving of Seafood Fried Rice. We managed to finish all the viands but we only halfed the rice.

After letting our food go down for a while, we walked all the way to Nuat Thai Libis for our Foot Massage. I was disappointed by a not-so-good Swedish Massage we got at their other branch in Pasig but we decided to try this branch mainly because of the good reviews I'm reading from other bloggers. Same as in Pasig, after getting our shoes and exchanging it with their slippers, they ushered us to their very cozy foot-washing area. They used a scrub soap which I think was better than just the regular liquid soap used in Pasig.  But like Pasig, I found the rooms too dark. The attendants literally has to guide us through the seats. Maybe a little candle light can do wonders. So anyway, they started on with our foot massage. Oh my G! That was very good! My attendant started with a quick hand massage, then carried on to do my feet, one at a time. She used not only her hands but also some bamboo like props. Amazing! Then she also massaged my legs. And upper legs! And just when I thought we were done, she asked me to sit on the foot stool then she gave me the best back massage I ever had! Mind-blowing! I wanted to cry when she said 'Mam tapos na po'. Back at the reception, they also gave us complimentary tea. I guess I'll be coming back to this branch more often.

This is my birthday message for Chelai this morning on FB:

Birthday ng isa sa mga mangilan-ngilan kong kaibigan na mas maganda saken! HAPPY 20ish BIRTHDAY Rochelle Anne Duco! Labyu dear! ♥

PS: To answer your question (for sure meron) - Yup she's single. But kailangan nyo muna pumasa saken, tapos kay Lara. PM at your own risk. :P

Oh BTW, as if it is also my birthday, I received these stuff from my friends Lara and Sheila from SG. They really knew me well to get what I wanted.

Loving sweets,
Yosh

Don Arturo's 70th

Last Thursday, I posted this photo on Facebook:

Yes, you're right! That's my entry for the #throwbackthursday fevah! And yes again, that's a young me in pink. The guy in blue is my grandfather. I posted that photo not only for #TBT but to greet my Daddy a Happy Birthday also! In fact I captioned that photo with this -
Kilala mo yung 'One of the Nicest Boys in Rizal'? Birthday nya ngayon! Happy Birthday Daddy! Oha birthday na TBT pa!

But that's not the end of it! Last Sunday, we celebrated Daddy's birthday with the usual family get together. Lately, it has been always at my tito's house (the one being constructed, so please pardon the mess). My tita ordered 2 bilao of puto, then she cooked pansit. I brought a Red Ribbon Cake with matching number candles. I'm not always that generous and we do not always celebrate birthdays but hey it's not everyday that a man celebrates his 70th year on earth! After what my grandfather went through this year (prostate operation), I'm sure I'm one with my family to say that, that was just apt.

I really hope God will grant him more years to live so he can see his grand-drandchildren from me. After all, he is strong as a horse now at 70!

Man of Steel

grabbed from comicbook.com

If you're expecting a movie review, then close this window now. Hehe! I'm no comic book fan, specially not Superman. Maybe Spiderman. But no, I'm not a die hard fan of any of them.

So why do I blog about this movie? It's because we watched the new Superman movie on the first day of showing! Second movie showing of the first day to be exact. Wow I feel so die-hard already. Haha! Before you think that D is a fan, I have one word for you first - Bazinga! Hahaha! It's just a holiday here in the Philippines yesterday so we wanted to enjoy the day. And thinking that everyone will be on the mall to watch that movie at night, we decided to watch it during pre-evening. Whoa! I'm sensing raised eyebrows. Ok, let me define Pre-evening. It's a part of day time between afternoon and evening. Made up by Sheldon Cooper in Big Bang Theory. Speaking of Sheldon, I wonder what he thinks of the new Superman movie. Hmmm
grabbed from wornontv.net

After some ramblings, I guess you noticed that I'm a Big Bang Theory fan. I love Sheldon! He's such a sweetheart! Haha! And no, Im not a geek.

Going back to the superman movie, if you trust the not-a-comic-book-fan review, I love it!! Or maybe it's because I have no knowledge of the comic book version of Superman so I cannot compare. I understand your sentiments fantards, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan and I hate the movies. But I still watch it because I love Harry! So I'm sure you'll watch Superman no matter what I say. Haha such non-sense blabber! One thing I'm such of - Henry Cavill is super HOT! Go ahead watch it now! :)

Wishing I'm Lois,

{SUPPLIER RATING} Reception Styling

The reception styling actually made me sad. It was not what I was expecting. It was actually not what we discussed. I could have given them the lowest score but if you read my Entourage Flowers Review, they've been so good to me. So bawi lang?

PRESIDENTIAL TABLES

My peg came from Fullblooms creations.

Our contract said - 6 low arrangements (3 square and 3 round). Instead, I got these -

Do you see any Greens or Orange? NONE. I rechecked the contract and oohh she didn't write the colors. My bad for not checking. But hey I attached pictures on it. So no lusot dapat!

Brace yourself for some contrasting comments with this rating and next one. I'm actually undecided what rating to give, so I made a separate post for each aspect.

First up, entourage flowers.

My initial reaction when I saw the flowers delivered early in the morning of my wedding day was - 'WOW! Fresh na fresh!'. Here's the more detailed reviews -

MY WEDDING BOUQUET

When I saw my bouquet my initial reaction was - 'Bakit ang liit?'. But I just shrugged it off thinking that maybe it was just from my point of view. Besides, the bouquet was really beautiful. There's some wilted part but it's ok. See for yourself -

True to her promise, Ate Inah gave me what I wanted. Even the personalized handle I requested. I wanted my bouquet handle to bear the CAUTION sign. I first gave her a real CAUTION tape but she dismissed the idea because the plastic material of it will not be compatible with the flowers' stems. I thought - 'Ok, you are more knowledgeable than me on that matter so ikaw na ang bahala'. They wrapped the actual bouquet with yellow ribbon marked (using pentel pen) with CAUTION. Ok sana if not for the smudges created by the pentel pen. It looked dirty to me. Anyway, hindi naman exposed so ok lang.
