[TYR@5] Day1: Cebu City Tour

TheYELLOWRoadtrip @5: DAY1 Cebu City Tour

It's our time of the year! Our 5th year anniversary getaway! yey! And as always, since D came back from Saudi, we made sure that we celebrate it with style. haha! Just something special. :)

So this year, to top off our last year's Acuatro sa Acuatico. We booked a Cebu-Bohol tour for 4D/3N.

So after a few hours of sleep, we unwillingly greeted a very cold Sunday morning. Take note that D's bday party happened the night before. At around half past five in the morning, we were already waiting for our plane.

The plane flew! As it should be, and we were in Cebu at around 9am. As I read in the forums, we crossed the street and found the metered taxi lane. Yes! it will save you bucks to ride metered taxi than airport taxi. So ok, we have two options to reach the hotel. Either we commute, meaning transfer into 4 jeepney ride OR ride the taxi straight to the hotel's doorstep. We chose the later to save energy.

At around 10am, we were already checked-in at Westpoint Inn. It is strategically located just around the corners of Fuente Circle. It is basically almost in front of Verbena Inn and just a 2-minute walk from the famous Larsian. I booked this hotel online, used credit card to pay 10% of the room price. Their standard room cost P780 per night, so I paid P78 pesos for the reservation. The room was good enough if your purpose is just to drop your bags and explore the city. It is pretty decent for its price - 2 single beds, with towels and free soap. The only downside was it has no hot water. No big deal.
D at the lobby: WORKING!
our standard room: inset - 2 single beds put together
After a few minutes of rest, we decided to grab some lunch. We walked to Larsian, but it seemed like they were closed at lunch? The guard in Robinsons said it is under renovation. We decided to try out CNT Lechon instead. We rode a taxi, since we didn't know where it was. The taxi brought us to a branch near SM Cebu.
the long line of waiting
Cebu's famous Lechon
Well after that, I realized that I'm not really a big fan of Lechon. Or maybe I was just overwhelmed with the super big servings! We ordered a kilo of Lechon! We didn't know that it was that many! haha I thought it will be just one plate, it turned out to be two whopping plateful. yay! We ended up taking half of it home, and we just forced ourselves to finish the other half.

After that we planned to continue with our City Tour. Our initial plan was to go straight to Guadalupe Church. So we asked around and we were told to ride a 06H jeepney. We wanted to experience Cebu without emptying our pockets and we also wanted to try their very-hard-to-understand jeepneys! haha. Their jeepneys were coded into something first timers will have a hard-time learning. They have signboards alright but it is wiser if you knew the codes. From there you'll know the exact route. So going back, we rode a jeepney. On the way, some guy jumped in the estribo. It was a very common sight in Manila. Someone will sabit and then solicit some money from passengers. So naturally our reaction was to deadma. But not the locals! They intently listened and gave money to the poor guy! And take note, not just coins! We're talking about P20 bills being passed around to reach the poor lad. Wow that was so generous of the Cebuanos! Anyway, going back to the road again, we passed by The Carmelites, Ayala Center, Tune Hotel (we planned to stay here), and then Fuente Circle.. So we're back? It costed us only P16 pesos to go back when we just spent P80 pesos for a taxi? Damn! We decided to try SkyAdventure first so we went down the jeepney and walked to Crown Regency.

We decided to just try the Sky Walk. No Edge Coaster for us. We just took some photos on the signage. That one ride costed us P550 each. P750 for two rides.
As we were getting ready for our walk, the rain poured! aww. The guide told us that we need to let the rain pass first because we might get dragged by the wind. So we just fooled around while waiting.
After around 15 minutes, the weather finally cooperated. We were able to view the majestic Cebu City. In broad daylight. I preferred daylight than the city lights at night, so I chose to do it in the morning. Well, to each his own. :) We took home the memories and these three pictures. Would you believe these already costed P690? Yeah that's sadly P230 per picture. No P750 for the whole lot of pictures in CD now.
Since our hotel was just a few walk from Crown Regency, we dropped our certificates, pictures and our take home lechon first so we do not have to carry it along us in our tours. It again started to rain but we needed to keep going. We found our way around the city alright. Take note, we were using public transpo. Yey! But since it was raining, we only managed to visit a few tourist spots:
Magellan's Cross
Basilica de Sto.Nino
candles for prayers
The name said it all
Spoofing Ramon
You know where

1,2,3 - D in various poses at the Fort; 4 - Spotted some Korean hottie
At dawn, we decided to head back to the hotel. But we stopped by Larsian for dinner first. We brought our left over lechon and ordered a bunch of ihaw-ihaw and more puso! I got aliw that I also get to see D eat using his hands - a very rare scene!

At around 8pm, we were already dozing. Preppin time for our early Bohol Tour the next day. :)
