A taste of Enderun

I heard a lot of good reviews about Enderun's food. It was actually one of the reasons why I booked this venue (aside from the ambiance). In fact, if time really didn't cooperate with us, I'm completely fine to skip the food-tasting. But the time then was on our hands and we have a lot of catching up to do after my devastating birthday.

We scheduled our food-tasting during lunch on November 13. Btw, Enderun only entertain 'scheduled' food-tasting. That should be planned with your AE (Karen on my case) at least 2 weeks in advance. Also, take note that they only do it Monday thru Thursdays but only during lunch. Maybe you can push for a Friday lunch but the restaurant might be full, so it will safer to schedule it on weekdays. Your AE will also ask you to choose your base banquet meal and then out of that choice you have to choose only 5 items. We decided to take Banquet 1 - 1 from the appetizer, the soup, 2 from the main course and 1 dessert. Note that one set of meal can be shared by 2, maybe even 3! I got this tip from w@w. Thank you sisters! :)

We came from a gown-fitting sched that morning, so we arrived at Enderun a few minutes after 12. Karen ushered us to Restaurant 101. She informed us what's gonna happen and then left us to enjoy our 'date'.

Just like any other resto, the food took about 15 minutes to be served. This was D at around 12:30pm.
you're not you when you're hugry?

I've read a lot of great reviews about the Marinated Salmon so I skipped that one. Since it's 100% delicious, I chose a pasta meal instead. First up - Penne Pasta with Artichoke and Red Pepper, Rocket Pesto
VERDICT
Being a pasta lover, I like it. It has a very unique taste. Aside from its very colorful presentation, the first thing you'll notice is its minty, herby taste. D even commented lasang dahon. There's a little sour taste from the Artichoke with a hint of sweetness from the Red Pepper. Occassionally, there's a bite of saltiness from well, salt. I'm not sure it they did it on purpose or the salt was not mixed properly. But anyway, it added an element of surprise. I'm just a little worried that some people might not like it. Generally, not all people like Pesto. This one is pesto plus a lot of twist. Right now, because of its unusual taste I'm already sure that my family will not like it. But at the same time, most of my pasta-lover friends will do. I was a bit torn if I should keep this. But D liked it, so we retained this one.

Next was the soup - Lemongrass-scented Pumpkin Cream Soup with Coconut Milk
VERDICT
I've tasted a lot of pumpkin soup from different resto, almost all of it didn't pass my taste. So I prepared myself to find a replacement for this one. But wow! I was wrong! That was the best pumpkin soup I ever tasted. Or should I say - the first one I liked. It's not too creamy like the others. There's a contrasting taste of the usual creamy pumpkin soup, the taste of Coconut Milk and the essense of lemongrass. Plus you'll enjoy every sip because of its minty smell. I literally said 'Wow ang sarap nito!'

At this point, I'm already full. But we were just starting. waaa. Next they served the main course - Cajun-spiced Chicken Roulade with Forest Mushroom Ragout and Oven-roasted Pork Loin in Mild Dijon Mustard Sauce. I was expecting only two viands since I did not order any rice or potatoes. But it came with a bowl of steaming rice.

All fingers up for more!
The Chicken Roulade was a big hit! I love how the tender chicken was cooked. It was so soft that it was almost melting in my mouth. It was so tasty that you can skip the sauce. But the mushroom was very good also so you just have to take it all.
The Pork Loin was my personal favorite. At first I was sad because we cannot bring in Lechon (cheapskate me decided to skip it because of the corkage). But after I tasted the Pork, I didn't feel the need to have Lechon anymore! It tasted almost like a real Lechon. Plus more! Actually, the first thing I tasted in this viand was the mustard sauce. I asked What's that sour taste? It's surprising but good after the second bite. The more I bite, the more I'm loving it.

To cap everything up, I decided to something safe for dessert. I went with everyone's advise. I ordered - Baked Mango Cheesecake
VERDICT
I was a bit unhappy when they served this one. Why this small? After tasting it, I'm sure its size will be a big problem. Because it's so delicioussssss! I'm sure my guests will come back for seconds, third, or fourth! I expected this to be good, but I was surprised that it was excellent! Not to sweet, not too sour, not too creamy. Everything was so right! Yummyyy! It's even better with the coffee (mine's tea) that the crew offered us to go with the cheesecake.

D not bothering looking at the camera

Now, more than ever, I'm confident that our guests will love our food. Thank you in advance Enderun!

  1. Hi! May I ask if how much was the cost of the food tasting?
