the kikay burkada!

I have been a silent rusher for as long as I can remember. Literally, I grew up listening to Chico and Delamar's morning chikahan.
When I knew that D also likes them, I went oohhh we're super kaduper bagay talaga (chico's kolehiyala tone hehehe).

Unlike the other rushers, I like the idea of having Gino on the Morning Rush. It put a different perspective to the conversation.
Chico and Del almost have the same views on things (well most of the times hehe). So a contrasting POV of Gino is such a refreshment. It added spice to a could-be-boring 13 years morning rush routine.
So there I've said too much. :)

So because D and I are such fans of them, I thought that It would be great to have them as our wedding hosts.
Mid last year I asked for Chico and Del's hosting rates in w@w.
Miles answered 10,000php each. Wow, I can't afford that. So I dropped it.
This year this topic came up again. I told them the last rate I knew.
But I still tweeted Chico and Del for the current rates.
Chico graciously tweeted back with their email address for inquiry:

After the kilig feeling (Chico tweeted me!), I emailed my inquiry.
Del replied 4 days later:

Hi! Our rates are 15k each for weddings. We just raised our rates this year. 

Im not sure about gino's rates. I'll ask him when he gets back. 

Oh my! That is more expensive. Since I cannot afford the 10k each, I obviously cannot afford the more expensive rates.

So after sharing it to my w@w sisters, I finally let it go.

So what's the reason of this post?

Well this morning I tried sending my greet to Delamar's twitter and she read it on air!:

Also sent a song request to Gino, but I guess his playlist was already full (or maybe not! wasn't able to finish the program, will dl the podcast). But he read my comment when he played 4 Seasons of Loneliness by Boyz2men:
@ginoboi this boyz2men song really gets into me. Twitting while taking shower - it's like crying in the rain. aww
This caught Gino's attention and became a topic of their conversation. Chico was even put into the spotlight because of it. Yay! :D

That's the reason. I'm just so happy to finally be a rusher - without the silent!
I'll try to contribute to the top ten next time. :)

Well he willingly obliged :) But this time I forced him to come because I am planning to book a bunch of suppliers.

Starbucks will cost us bucks!

Have you read my previous post? You should.

I forced my lunch girlfriends yesterday to go to Starbucks. That's new because we are not really coffee fans, specially me, I seldom drink coffee.

So there. We just bought some drinks and asked about the Starbucks coffee booth.

I have the idea how much from Hann. But some details were punched-out. So I got them myself.

Here:

40 cups of blended coffee for 2900php, 5800php for 80cups. Not bad! :)

14k for 100 frappucino (everyone's fave!). 14k also for 80 fraps and 40 coffee! wow!

I like the Doppio Package - 80 Tall Frappucino + 40 coffee.

But geee where will I get 14,000 bucks? D seemed not interested when I showed it to him last night. aww

I can settle with just the all-coffee package. I just need a sponsor! haha

BEFORE or AFTER?

Two scenarios I noticed on weddings I attended:

1. Food is served AFTER the reception program
PROs:
- People will stay and watch the program, meaning the couple's hardship in wedding preparation will be noticed. (?)
CONs:
- People will remember that they got hungry on your wedding.
- No one will watch your program wholeheartedly because they are always looking at the buffet table. (unless of course they love you that much, but again their stomach may betray them!)

2. Food is served BEFORE the reception program
PROs:
- Everybody happy! (if the food is great! we still have to consider that.)
- They can listen intently now.
CONs:
- People may tend to go home early because they already ate. (most people think they came for the food aww!) - which means only those close to you can watch that dance number you prepared. gosh :(

I personally like to have people stay throughout the whole program. But of course no one wants to make people remember that they got hungry on your wedding.
Other couple resort to have pica-pica first to satisfy their guests' hunger. But most of the weddings I attended only provided a couple of pica-pica plates, which IMO is not suffice to feed 10 people on a table.
I understand their concerns about budget, I have that also.
So what now?

My idea is to serve something that will make them full already - like doughnuts and coffee?
How about Starbucks coffee booth and Krispy Kreme doughnuts? wow rich! haha
I'll get SB's rates, a sister from w@w opened that topic.
But coffee in the afternoon? Isn't that a bit weird? hmmm
Lemonade maybe?
For pica-pica - I bet Krispy Kreme is expensive. Dunkin Donuts?
How about siopao? That's D's fave! And nakakabusog for sure!

This will surely cost me much. What do you think guys?

A day full of FLOWERS!

Cramming time! It is 2012 already and we still have lots to do. Oh my!
Since we only have Sundays to do bookings, we fully utilized our last sunday.

I got Sunny Florist for my Church flowers.
I was so lucky that I still got Mang Rey Asuncion's 2011 rate, I was a day early. whew!
His package is the cheapest from among SSA's accredited suppliers. So I grabbed it already.
I was not really particular with church flowers. The church itself is beautiful already, those flowers are just accessories.
I was bound to get the cheapest package, but Mang Rey offered me the next package for 2000php less! wow!
I only deposited half then (half of it will go to SSA). I needed to talk to D first about the upgrade.
After getting D's approval, I set a sunday meeting with Mang Rey.
So come sunday, we meet in a crowded Landmark foodcourt.
Just a little chitchat, additional payments and checking of receipt, the deal was closed - Sunny Florist for the SSA Flowers then! :D

BTW, We also meet another florist earlier on Sunday.
Ate Inah was a picture of a woman in action when she walked in her house where we are waiting.
I regret that I didn't set a meeting with her, so she pulled herself out of an event just to meet us (how touching!)
She knew my desire of not wasting much of my budget on flowers, so the talk about which flower went on smoothly.
I liked that she was not asking us to buy many things from her portfolio but encouraged us to try to do it by ourselves first.
Upon billing, I guess Ate Inah saw my hesitation with the price. She generously added more freebies since she cannot deduct from the price anymore.
I liked her. I trust that she can do wonders on my wedding since she knew Enderun by heart.
So it was another deal - Event Styling by Fullblooms CHECK!

My Bridal bouquet will be of course full of yellow flowers. I choose a dozen of yellow Equadorian Roses.
I asked for white million stars and canary yellow flowers. I hope she gets it.

Of course, ours will be in yellow and orange shades. We might incorporate touch of green to make it more alive looking.

My idea is that my girls will be in Butter Yellow shade of gowns, so I want the flowers to be in shades of darker yellow like canary yellow or orange.

Since I'll be spending much on flowers, I want people to notice it, instead of only noticing the gown and ignoring the flowers.

I really hope this will work on the day. I have such high hopes! :)

w@w auction WINNER!

After a long time of literally missing w@w, i was suddenly taken back into the wedding scene by this email header sent by Ms.Benz RE:W@W Auction.

I was super waiting for these. So although I'm a bit worried if Ms.Benz will allow me to join the auction, I sent my application anyway.

But I'm IN! I was allowed to join! weeeee

Actually, I was not rooting for those big items - Veluz gown, CA gown, Photo and Video, etc.

Even if it is for bidding, I still cannot afford the reserved price.

So my target then was the small items like Unity Coins.

But I was so late. I received my password a little bit before the closing time of most items.

I targeted Niko Hernandez' gown (only to try!), Baicapture Photobooth and Kim Valdez Hosting Services.

So I set my alarm at 1am in the morning to watch my bid.

By the time of closing the bids, Niko's gown price then was way out of my budget so I let it go.

I also realized that I don't want Baicapture anymore so I didn't follow it.

I was then focused on watching my bid for Kimberly Valdez.

I knew Kim from Sis April of w@w. She never fails to give good feedback for Kim and her coordinating team - Social Happenings.

So ok! I put my full trust on Sis April's bet.

Good thing, no one bothered to outbid my last bid. So I WON!

Kim's original hosting service fee is 7000php. I got it for only 3000php.

More than 50% discount! What a penny-saver!

Everyone close to me knew my struggle in finding my perfect and new MOH.
..a previous case of lost friendship and broken promises.
Reminiscing it just to make this post tear my heart, but people change, and life has to move on.

So going back, time is ticking and i have to make my choice.
Out of my chosen bridemaids, i put my bet on one of my closest college girlfriend.
I actually wasn't expecting her to accept without hesitation. But thank God she did!
Well she's right. Being my MOH is the perfect reason to stand out and have a kabog gown!
